Sophia Polytechnic it is run by the Society for the Higher Education of Women in India (SHEWI), a Trust belonging to the Society of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The Polytechnic is part of an international network of Sacred Heart schools and colleges, which share a 200-year old philosophy of education that was promoted by a visionary educationist, Madeleine Sophie Barat, who founded the Society of the Sacred Heart in 1800 in France. Sophia Polytechnic is predominantly a women’s polytechnic.

An M.Sc in Clothing & Textile, she has in-depth knowledge of both the subjects. Currently, she has submitted her Phd project to theUniversityofMumbaion ‘eco friendly innovative printing for fashion fabrics in small scale industries’ with the aim to bring widespread awareness of the dangerous effects of chemicals used in Printing and the possibility of viable alternatives.
