The Department collaborated with Deal Global Fashion Pvt. Ltd. for an industry-based project during their trade show at Bangalore. The HOD Dr. (Mrs.) Jignasa Shah accompanied 17 students from the department. The students showcased the Spring summer 2024 collection to the buyers from across India. They gained a wealth of learning from this experience.
The department celebrated World Happiness Day with lots of fun filled learning with Mr. Sourav Gosh, on 20th March, 2023. It was a 2hr session with the 2nd and 4th semester students who participated in the event with free spirits. Mr. Sourav engaged the students in interesting games that helped them know the value of time away from their phones, self-help and responsibility
The department showcased Tvashtar ’22 the annual Fashion show with pomp and splendour, displaying nine stylish collections which were a mix of practicality and imagination. Mr. Anupam Mittal of Shadi.com was their Chief Guest and many known celebrities from the industry graced the occasion.
The students of the department actively participated in a blood donation drive conducted by the Polytechnic on 7th October, 2023.
The freshers party for the newly admitted students was organised by th department as a finale to the induction week programe. Students of all the 3years participated in a fun filled session conducted by Mr. Hugo D'souza, who was invited to host the programe.
We began with a fashion show, where the final year students showcased their sustainable collections, and then Mr. Hugo lead the students into ice-breaker games which helped them mingle and get to know each other. We all had a wonderful time.
The department organised a visit to the HAB by Usha, to introduce the students to different type of sewing and embroidery machines and a variety of materials used for surface ornamentation. They experienced hands on the working of the machines and their minds opened up to the unlimited creative possibilities with them.
As part of the induction week the department invited Mrs. Dipti Deshpande & Mr. Saurav Gosh, to conduct a session with the newly admitted students to get to know themselves and each other in the class. They played interesting games which helped build a healthy team spirit and also encouraged them to take self-initiative in different activities of the class. Simple techniques of calming the mind and destressing were also shared with the students
The creative thinking workshop conducted by alumi & entrepreneur, Ms. Vishwa Shah, was organised during the Induction week and was well received by the newly admitted students. They had fun a lot of fun tapping into their creativity by experimenting and creating designs with paper.
The department organised a series of interesting workshops as part of The induction programe for the newly admitted students. Faber castell was on such workshop where the students learnt the use of dry and wet rendering mediums. Three students were awarded Faber Castell products as prizes for the best rendered sketches during the workshop. The team from Faber Castell included Mr. Nilesh Patel, Mr. Alkesh Gurav, Ms. Shruti Kak, Ms. Meenal Mahadik & Mr. Santosh Sharma
The department once again collaborated with the Jal Shakti Abiyan of Mission Green Mumbai, at Juhu Beach on 10th September, 2022.
Juhu Beach “Clean-Up Drive” was organized on 10th September, 2022 for the 1st and 2nd year students. The drive was specially planned a day after Anant Chaturdashi. The department collaborated with Jal Shakti Abhiyan, Mission Green Mumbai.
The drive was also covered by Doordarshan in DD News, Samachar, Khaas Khabar and DD News Sahyadri.
It was also posted on Instagram by Mission-Green Mumbai. Honorable Prime minister Mr. Narendra Modi twitted in appreciation of the clean-up drive.
We were part of 920 volunteers from 11 schools, colleges, an old age home and an orphanage. More than 1 Ton of marine litters was removed with BMC’s support
The department conducted a tree plantation drive in collaboration with Mission Green Mumbai an NGO by Mr. Subhajit Mukherjee, who is collaborating with the Government of Maharashtra. This activity was organised at the Loknete Gopinath Munde Shakti Ground, Dahisar Mumbai.

planting saplings for trees contributing towards the mission.
Continuing the celebrations for Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav, the department organised a Quiz competition for the students. The students participated with enthusiasm and also gained useful knowledge related to our Independence.
Fun and games added to the spirit of the occassion.
The students also displayed a collection designed and created by them, linking Independence and sustainability the need of the hour.
The clebration for Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav began with the Poster competition on 8th August, 2022. Students expressed their patriotism through a variety of posters.
The Flag hoisting on Independence day 15th August took place on our campus in true patriotic spirit. All entities on campus came together to give reverence to our national flag.
The Department began the year in July’ 2022 with an exclusive exhibition-cum-sale of Men, Women, & Kid’s wear under the subject Sustainable Design Collection formulated during their 4th semester, in the conference hall for 2 days. The collections were appreciated by one and all who visited the exhibit.
The final year students took part in the The All-India Apparel Design Contest 2022, organised by the ‘Retailer’s Association of India’ in September, showcasing designs developed under the subject Sustainable design collection This is a national level competition, and Ms. VIni Lakhani, won the 1st prize, a trophy along with a cash prize of Rs10,000/-
The department collaborated with ADAPT(formerly the Spastic Society of India), to celebrate World Cerebral Palsy day in October 2022. Our students designed and fabricated outfits which was an outcome of beautiful relationships created during the process of finding out the needs and desires of the students. In its true sense a holistic learning for our design students, who also won prizes for their designs in different categories
On 1st & 2nd Dec, 2022 the staff & students of the department participated in the prelude of the international conference of Green Fashion India at SOFT, Pune for 2 days. The theme of the conference was increasing the quotient of social sustainability by building a network of individuals who can maintain a sustainable approach for a long period of time. Our HOD Dr. Jignasa Shah and staff Ms. Manisha Saji participated in group discussions along with other experts to identify ways in which the this could be achieved
The department welcomed students and staff from the Convent of Sacred Heart School, New York who visited our department on 5th December 2022, to understand subjects and assignments related to the field of fashion. HOD Dr. Jignasa Shah, expressed our joy with a token of appreciation to all the staff who accompanied them.

The department organised a visit of our students at the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI) Trade Show on 1st February, 2023. The students imbibed all that they could from desings for the next season, to new fabrics, to fantastic visual merchandising and also interacted with industry on a one to one level. Loads of learning, amazing experience

Also, Warmest Congratulations! to the head of the department Dr. (Mrs.) Jignasa Shah and Mrs. Manisha Saji for presenting strong association of the Dress Designing and Garment Manufacturing department with Green Fashion India.
An activity termed ‘Dress me Up’ was conducted online on 5th May, 2021 by an industry expert Ms. Vishwa Shah for semester fourth students. The objective of this assignment was to bring out the spontaneous creativity of the students. Various interesting characters like Circuit from the movie Munna Bhai M.B.B.S, Lakshmibai from Manikarnika and Akshay Kumar from Bhool Bhulaiyaa and image of a lady from the cover of Vogue magazine were displayed on the screen. Students were expected to get inspired from the images in their own creative manner and style themselves in the limited given time. The outcome was just superb!!!!! Students not only put in their 200% efforts to prove their talent in styling themselves in the best possible manner. The session was not only a learning one but also proved to be stress buster for many. The activity was amazing thanks to the expert for her constant encouragement and freedom to explore and experiment.
On the 21st of February, 2020 a seminar for the class of third year was held wherein, representatives of the Istituto Italian Design enlightened the students about the Masters in Fashion and Italian Crafts program available in their institute. The session was graced by a member of the Italian Consulate who shared the portfolio developed by the students of their institute and the activities performed. The working of the institute in support for a sustainable apparel industry was presented through a short video on “forest to fashion”. The video was highly inspring and attention seeking. The students were contented with the session which opened up the doors for their future endeavors.
The annual exhibition was held from 20th to 23rd of February, 2020. The final year students displayed their Tvashtar collections for the exhibition.
Fabrics using Batik / Tie-and -Dye / Silk printing techniques etc studied in Textile Art subject were on display by second year students. They also displayed their creativity using various draping techniques and presenting it by means of short Trunk shows. These were modelled by the students of first and the second years. It was well appreciated by visitors on all four days.

To celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Sophia Polytechnic in collaboration with Sophia college, organized a state-level Seminar titled “The Relevance of Gandhi in the 21st Century” in memory of his love for Khadi.
It was kickstarted with a conference attended by eminent speakers like Mr. Tushar Gandhi, the great grandson of Mr. Gandhiji, Dr. Usha Thakkar, Dr. Kannama Raman and the head of the department Dr. (Mrs.) Jignasa Shah who also presented a thought provoking paper on Khadi titled “Khadi: India’s Signature Fabric”.Dr. Shah conveyed the message to the audience to atleast have one garment of Khadi in their wardrobes rather than running behind “fast fashion” -imported brands / low cost garments. This act would benefit the world as these are not only sustainable but also unique in nature which can strengthen our country too.
Following it, under the guidance of faculty Mrs. Manisha Saji and Ms. Rizvana Ansariya,the final year students showcased their ‘Tvashtar’ collection that was based on sustainability to highlight the importance of this event. The first year students modelled the ensembles as well as groomed themselves to present the collection enthusiastically.
This program hence, brought forth the significance of the use of sustainability and Gandhiji’s teachings of the same.
Under the guidance of the head of the department Dr. (Mrs.) Jignasa Shah and Mr. Sourav Ghosh, 10 students had an opportunity to participate in the TATA MUMBAI MARATHON, in association with the SORT club. Each college or group had to support a social cause. The Sort club undertook the Ideology of - Unity in diversity. Our students have won medals as well as certificates for their participation and competing the dream run of approximately 5.9 kms for such a great initiative.
The 31st National road safety week was observed from 11th to 17th January 2020. Looking into the magnitude and gravity of the problems in road safety, there is a need for the society at large to take cognizance of the issue to join hands to make road safety a social movement. With the help of the library’s efforts, the DDGM department also made a conscious attempt to make the students aware and mindful about the road safety week. The student’s along with the faculty pledged to follow the safety rules.
A hand printing workshop was organised twice this year - First in April 2019 and Second on 8th January, 2020 for the students of final year. This workshop was led by the head of the department Dr. (Mrs.) Jignasa Shah and Mr. Avadhoot. A number of techniques regarding hand printing were taught. The students benefitted immensely as techniques that usually work on paper were also experimented on fabric resulting in wonderful results. After a short demonstration, the students were given full freedom to express their creativity and play with different techniques and prints leading to an array of colourful fabrics.
The department had approached 27 colleges and 9 schools with regards to ‘School Connect Program 2019-2020’. In all we were able to personally meet 470 students. The sessions were highly interactive and the faculty clarified all their queries. Our team was very proud reaching out to few future candidates who genuinely were interested in taking admission in our Polytechnic.
Outreach was conducted closer to Christmas. It teaches us that true happiness comes from giving. Basically, this was to helps students understand the spirit of compassion.
This year it was planned on 16th December, 2019 at Shahpur. It was conducted by approx. 120 students along with 3 faculty members and the head of the department Dr. ( Mrs.) Jignasa Shah.
The students interacted with the underprivileged children of a local school and played various games with them. They were also handed over with a takeaway gift of love of games, goodies which consisted of snacks, stationery and woolen beanies. The children returned with happy smiles but the students returned with a deep sense of realization of how privileged we truly are.
The students of DDGM took the idea of outreach one step forward by contributing towards the environment. The students conducted a plantation activity where they planted various fruit saplings. Each student also took home a sapling of Guava to plant in their environment which eventually would grow into a beautiful tree and nurture it.
The outreach and tree plantation was a great success all thanks to the head of the department Dr. (Mrs.) Jignasa Shah who always encourages on environment and reaching out to people for a social cause.
The department had organized workshop on personality development and induction program along with industry visit to Alok industries, Silvassa from 17th to 20th December, 2019. The head of the department Dr. (Mrs.) Jignasa Shah and faculty Mrs. Manisha Saji. T along with first year students took part in these activities.
The department proudly recognized and celebrated success on the 7th of December, 2019 by earning a collaboration to create and help with ‘STARTUPS’ for its students, with one of the most reputed designers of this age, Mr. Wendell Rodricks! The staff, students as well as the alumnae - check all gathered to announce about the this collaboration with Mr. Manish Kelshikar, a representative of Mr. Rodricks. The crowd of students emitted a sense of excitement and determination as this seemed to be a great opportunity. This was possible only due to the vision of our HOD, Dr. (Mrs.) Jignasa Shah who has a desire to see her students grow.
The department in association with School of Fashion Technology (SOFT), Pune had organised Pre-launch conference on ‘Green Fashion India’ which is an initiative of SOFT. This conference was held on 26th of September 2019. The theme for the conference was “Leading Sustainability through Collaboration and Co – Creation”. A meaningful association in the form of Collaboration and Co-Creation between Academia, Industry, Crafts and NGO to enhance the future. The conference got a very good response from the industry as well as from the fashion institutions all through the country. Total 21 institutions across India participated in the conference. We had 635 registrations from the young generation students of various institutions from the age group of 18 to 25 years. Apart from this approximately 100 guests including academic professionals and well wishers were invited for the conference. Through this conference we highlighted the damage caused due to chemicals and also guided students not to get attracted towards fast fashion be aware of art of India and follow slow fashion
The chief guest and the key note speaker for the conference was Mr. Kumar Rajgopalan – CEO RAI (Retailers Association of India) and the other key note speaker was Mr. Sudhir Soundalgekar – Director Projects, Raymonds. Esteemed personalities from the fashion world like Arch. Ms. Mohana Kadam - President Green Fashion India, Ms. Krishna Mehta – Creative Director, Mr. Rahul Bhajekar – Managing Director (Global Organic Textile Standard), Mr. Hemang Agrawal – Designer / Creative Diretor (Surekha Group / Entrepreneur), Mr. Sai Ganesh – Vice President Marketing Colors Business, Ms. Nivedita Saboo – Fashion Designer, Mr. Jagdeep Shokeen – Vice President (Design & Product Development, Eastman Exports), Ms. Ruma Devi – President Gramin Vikas Evam Chetna Sansthan, Barmer and Ms. Daina Linda – Fashion Designer had graced the conference with their presence.
The students went back with lot of confidence in our art & artforms and lot of awareness regarding sustainability. Through this conference following two strong messages were communicated to bring about the changes most needed in today’s society.

A heartfelt Congratulations! On Ms. Aishwarya Shetty’s well-deserved success and the force behind her success head of the department Dr. (Mrs.) Jignasa Shah who has the vision of accomplishing great things. Ms. Shetty along with a few students of the final year participated in RAI – Retail Association of India, a competition which promoted sustainable clothing in a commercially viable way. She was one amongst the 3 chosen finalists. On 28th August, the finalists were judged for their work at the MMR – Manning Modern Retail conference. The jury panel consisted of esteemed personalities from the industry such as designer Anita Dongre, the director of RAI, Raymonds to name a few. Ms. Aishwarya was placed first and awarded the trophy for the most commercial and sustainable collection. She was also awarded an internship for 3 months with RAI.
Tree Plantation drive was held on 14th August, 2019 on our campus at 8.00 a.m. All the staff & 3 years students were present. At the end of the drive all the students pledged to plant one tree every year on their birthday and also keep check on its progressive growth from time to time in their area where they reside.
A hearty Congratulations!! to Ms. Samia Ansari, Ms. Iqra Khot and their expert Ms. Vishwa Shah for winning the bronze in Ekansh. Also, Warmest Congratulations! to the head of the department Dr. (Mrs.) Jignasa Shah for guiding, mentoring and encouraging the students at every stage to make this achievement possible. Their win was an accomplishment to the department itself. The finale for the same was held at Hyat – Pune on 16th August, 2019.
The journey started when groups of final year students applied for Ekansh, a competition for designing ‘Adaptive Clothing’ for the differently abled.
The students were prepped for the competition by the H.O.D Dr. (Mrs.) Jignasa Shah and the Design Process faculty Ms. Vishwa Shah and Ms. Zainab Ayaz. Faculty Ms. Rizvana Ansariya and 12 student participants also attended the finale competition.
Through the guidance given and the hard work done, 5 groups from the department, namely, group 1 (Ms. Drishti Bhatia & Ms. Shifa Petiwala), group 2 (Ms. Anuja Tika & Ms. Mansi Makwana), group 3 (Ms. Saima Shaikh, Ms. Shrutika Kuralkar & Ms. Khushboo Shah), group 4 (Ms. Miloni Dedhia, Ms. Naitri Satra & Ms. Saba Sheikh) and group 5 (Ms. Samia Ansari & Ms. Iqra Khot) got selected. We congratulate! all the participants for their great efforts and success.
On the 8th of August, few students from the 2nd year of DDGM participated in the competition held at Nirmala Niketan Polytechnic themed – ‘Out of The Box’. Our students took part in various competitions like - creating garments through best out of waste, leaf and sand painting, scarf painting and many more. Ms. Akshita Ghogari and Ms. Asifa Sheikh stood 1st and 2nd respectively in the best out of waste making competition. It was a wonderful experience and the students got great exposure through such a fashion competition.
On 18th of July the second-year students had an opportunity to attend the Biannual CMAI fair held at NESCO Bombay exhibition center. The students got an access to different types of target audiences through the lens of the exhibitors. It was an educative experience for the students.
Keeping in mind the spirit of international yoga day alive across the world the department organised yoga sessions both for students as well as faculty in two separate batches. On 21st June 2019 the session was conducted by Dr. (Mrs.) Jignasa Shah (Head of the department). Mrs. Deepti and Mr. Saurabh Ghosh took over the second session on 24th of June. The students were educated about the importance of yoga and were also taught different asanas and pranayamas for relieving stress. Many Asanas to enhance one’s concentration were also taught. Faculty were enlightened with short asanas to relieve themselves in between sessions of hectic classes. Fruitful eating, drinking water and sleeping techniques were shared by Mr. Saurabh Ghosh for maintaining good health.
A concept jury was held for the final years on 30th April 2019 which was in regards with the annual fashion show ‘Tvashtar -2019’ to be held in September. Students presented their fashion show concepts that they had diligently worked on under the guidance of subject expert Ms. Vishwa Shah.
Final year students presented their experience of their 3 months industrial training to the external jury on 5th April, 2019.
This year’s theme for the fourth semester exhibition cum sale was inspired from the Motto of the year, “Education is the process of Humanisation” and “One’s Deepest Darkest Secrets” along with an Indian Art form with the intension of popularising and revival of said art form. The Design Process was mentored by Ms. Vishwa Shah, an industry expert.
A trip to the place of selected art forms was made by the students in order to interact with, and document the art they create as well as their struggles and hardships.
The students from third semester were given an opportunity to create and present the Term end garment an “Evening Gown” on 19th October, 2019. The jury judged creative works consisting of unique themes as well as different kinds of fabric texturing and manipulation. The gowns turned out to be a wonderful creation and the students themselves wore the gowns for the presentation.
The 2nd year student's Project work was shortlisted and hence they had an opportunity to participated in the MSBTE Project Competition at Vidyalankar Polytechnic on 12th March, 2019. It was a very different and a very enriching experience.
This year too the students of first years as well as second years were sent for the dealers meet for the brand TWILLS – Winter 2019 at ‘The Lalit’ in Mumbai which gave them the insight of the industry functioning. This also helped them to apply their soft skills, communication skills and grooming while handling the buyers across India.
A Jury was conducted on 5th April, 2019 for the 2nd semester students. In this jury students were judged on their tailored garment – Indian wear Kurti and leggings, inspired by different art forms and artifacts of the Prince of Wales museum. The entire process helped students to learn the Design development and the Technical aspects of a tailored design.
On 16th March, 2019 the second year students of the Dress Designing and Garment Manufacturing department Ms. Samia Ansari and Ms. Iqra Khot proudly received the FIRST place along with their mentor Dr. (Mrs.) Jignasa Shah at the inter Collegiate Fashion show competition themed 'Trend Sustain" at Nirmala Niketan, college of Home Science. The students won the award for their collection on reviving the "Chatapati Work" of Lucknow.
Knowing your work is important but leaving a lasting impression on people with the help of your personality and work is equally crucial. Keeping that in mind a grooming session for the first year students was arranged on 7th March, 2019 which gave students tips and lessons on the importance of personal hygiene, good personality, sound mind and a healthy body. The students enjoyed the session as it was full of fun and highly interactive.
The annual exhibition was held from 21st to 24th of February, 2019. The final year students displayed their Tvashtar collections for the exhibition.
The second year students created the fabrics and developed the garments for the age group between 20 to 30 years. The garments were exhibited and put on sale too.
The class of second year Dress Designing and Garment Manufacturing had an industrial visit to Al Rkayan, a garment manufacturing factory at Goregaon which specializes in Denim wear.
They got to learn about the different devices and instruments used in the sewing and finishing process as well as the workings of the factory.
This visit was very helpful to the students in understanding the subject Garment Production Technology.
The department of Dress Designing and Garment Manufacturing had an interactive session with Commodore Aspi Marker (Ex Naval officer) on the 26th of October, 2018 as per the circular from AICTE.
Cmdre. Marker explained about the working and importance of the army, navy and the air force in an interesting manner. The students keenly paid attention to his talk and did not hesitate in quenching their curiosity regarding the manner being spoken. The students were transfixed by the mostly discussed topic ‘Surgical Strikes’ and the role the army, navy, and air force played in it. The talk was also accompanied by a few videos which made it really enjoyable.
The session ended with the songs of the defence forces being played. A sense of respect and patriotism could be seen on the faces of the students as well as the faculty regarding the saviours of our country.
The class of second and third year along with the faculty of the Dress Designing and Garment Manufacturing department of Sophia Polytechnic had visited a conference in Goa on the 5th and 6th of October. The conference was organised by the School of Fashion Technology (SOFT) Pune, regarding sustainable practices in fashion.
This conference titled GFI (Green Fashion India) takes place every year and works towards the sensitization towards the Green fashion which is the need of the hour.
Many International and popular Indian designers attended the conference and proposed ideas that they were working on for upgrading the industry in terms of green fashion.
The HOD – Dr. Jignasa Shah and her colleague Mrs. Manisha Saji of the department presented an interesting paper on the sensitization of our students in taking up sustainable practices in designing. The students of third year – Ms. Palak Wadel and Serin Sheikh also had presented a paper during the event of paper presentation titled ‘The Alchemy of Nature’ which spoke about imprinting fabrics with natural materials such as waste temple flowers and other vegetation. This paper achieved success and won the first prize. Another student Devi Meddishetty who participated in developing innovative weaves won the second prize. This made our Polytechnic very proud.
There was a hearty response from the students and a lot of exchange of ideas and interests took place among the designers and students.
On 2nd October, the students and faculty of first and second year, Dress Designing and Garment Manufacturing department went for a clean up drive at Dadar beach on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. This is in keeping with Gandhiji’s cherished idea of a clean India.
The students joined hands with ‘Aarna Foundation’, an NGO to undertake the beach cleaning. The team was given the name ‘Beach Warriors’. The participating students showed tremendous enthusiasm in fulfilling the task after intensive effort of approximately 3 hours. The students achieved the goal of getting rid of all the waste on the beach.
The NGO appreciated the sincere participation of the students and awarded them with merit certificates.
Due to the team spirit it was a great success and the students were left with a deep sense of satisfaction.
Ms. Jesica Shah and Ms. Palak Wadel our final year students had participated in the international competition curated by “Society of Dyers and Colorist” and were short listed amongst the top 10 entries across India on 6th September, 2018. With the theme “Color Communication” students created eco-friendly clothing products with strong colour value.
Congratulations! to Ms. Cyron Rodrigues, our final year student was chosen as a finalist amongst the top 15 contestants across India to showcase her creations during the ‘Max Design Awards 2018 ’. The theme this year was ”Craftivism” which focuses on sustainability and saving the environment. Cyron’s perspective was to give discarded clothes a new life by recycling them into a new fabric. She also used denim which was dyed using the traditional method of underground pit dyeing with vegetable dyes. She showcased her garments on 21st February, 2018 at Delhi. We are very proud of her.

The CGF (Consortium of Green Fashion) an international conference held on 29th, 30th September and 1st October 2016. There were 3 groups from the Final Year students who participated in the design competition and from the 3 prizes the 1st & the 2nd Runner’s up was from our department. They even participated in the Quiz competition and won the 2nd Prize.
students accompanied Mrs. Rizvana Ansariya to celebrate rakshabandhan in unique and environment friendly way by planting trees at Government General Hospital, Malad (west).The programme came to end by distribution of certificates to all the volunteers and a trophy as a token of appreciation for the participation in the noble cause.
To welcome new students induction program was organized for first four days starting from 10th September 2024. The induction program was further divided into 4 sessions - Yoga was introduced for their body and mind relaxation - Here students got to know all about different asana., Presentation techniques both soft as well as technical skills and Planning and organizing an event. The session was conducted by Mr. Sourav Ghosh and Mrs. Dipti Deshpande.
The Annual exhibition for 2022-23 was held from 23rd February to 26th February 2023. Students received recognition for their achievements in academics and services rendered towards the Polytechnic and department activities.
The 4th semester students were encouraged to test their entrepreneurial skills by conducting a sale. The students excitedly created of a variety of products like, earrings, neck pieces, pendants, scrunchies, bags garments, hand block printed dupattas soft toys and many more items to showcase their creativity. The sale was a resounding success
The department also encouraged students to showcase their learning on sustainable practices. The students were guided by the staff and organised a Trunk show where they together with the 1st year students showcased garments to promote sustainability. They created garments from old sarees and also from waste materials like garbage bags, paper plates, cups, foil & newspapers using techniques of upcycling and recycling.

This year too the students of first years as well as second years were sent for the dealers meet for the brand TWILLS – Winter 2019 at ‘The Lalit’ in Mumbai which gave them the insight of the industry functioning. This also helped them to apply their soft skills, communication skills and grooming while handling the buyers across India.
